Food and Costumes of Baghmara
The Garos like to have simple food. They usually avoid spicy food, and
take boiled vegetables and meat along with rice. They mostly use a kind of "alkaline kalchi vegetable salt" in the curry in some particular quantity. The cooking habits of the garos, like these, have known to save them from a lot of gastric ailments. The poeple of
Baghmara are fond of boiled meat, pork. Dry fish is always eaten in the form of a chutney. Apart from meat they are fond of sea food also.

Due to contact with people from outside it has greatly modified the dress of the Garos. Both women and men wear dark clothes, dark blue or black, and men may wear shorts instead of the traditional loincloth. Both female and male generally wear turbans. On celebrations, they wear all the family heirlooms including the fine clothes and ornaments for women and men.
